How to Prepare Yourself to Pass the MBLEX NCETMB & NCETM Exam Using an Online Study Guide

Stop wasting needless time and money by not being able to pass your national massage therapy certification exam. Learn how you can get your massage therapy license fast that is required to obtain your state massage therapy license. First of all, I highly suggest that you take the nation exam as soon as possible. Don't wait long after you have graduated and then attempt to take the test. More than likely the more time that goes by the more knowledge that you learned in massage therapy school will escape your brain. Also, I highly suggest that you go over notes, read your books, look over old school exams, and read current massage therapy magazines. Sometimes students who even do this, still find it challenging to pass the national certification exam.

If you live in a state where the MBLEx is accepted, I would jump all over that. Most states do accept the MBLEx exam and offer it to all massage therapy student graduates. I have found that thousands of future massage therapists prefer the MBLEx hands down over any other exam. The MBLEx is and can be and overwhelming exam and an exam you will not pass if you think you can just take it without any preparation. Its a 200 question test that cost about 0.00. Many people fail this test and cause themselves a lot of needless expense, grief, and a feeling that is not very good for this kind of profession. I highly recommend that you get some kind of study guide, tutor book, online study practice exam, or anything else that will help you pass the national certification exam.

I have been a massage therapist and instructor for many years and have found future massage therapist simply have to prepare to pass any massage exam whether it be the NCETMB, NCETM, or the MBLEx. Please check your state massage therapy board to see what exam they will accept. Again, I highly recommend taking the MBLEx if your state offers this exam. On the day of the exam, be well rested, use good rationale when reading a question, eliminate right away the wrong answers in your mind and go with your gut feeling on questions that your are unsure of the answer. Again, if your prepared correctly, you will not have any problem passing the exam or any massage therapy exam. The massage certification exam in taken on a computer, and is a multiple choice exam. Like I said, there are many good study guides and I highly would use one for preparation. I have guided many successful massage therapists to use an online study guide that has practice exams that helps prepare you, as well as gives you the computer online feel where you will fill comfortable using a computer on the day of the exam. For more information visit the link below for successful result's in your massage therapy certification and gaining a passing score.

Shielded Metal Arc Welding Certification Tests - AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code Steel

Shielded metal arc welding tests for structural type work are specified by the American Welding Society Structural Welding code for Steel. AWS D1.1 is the name of the code book.

There are numerous AWS welding codes for all kinds of industries and the welding certification tests for shielded metal arc welding are usually pretty similar from one code book to the next. The American Welding Society provides code books for heavy equipment, Bridge Welding, Sheet metal, Titanium structures, Aluminum structures, Industrial Cranes, steel and aluminum hull welding for ships, aerospace welding, and a whole lot more.

The common thread that runs through all these code books is this:

Shielded Metal Arc Welding Certification Tests - AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code Steel

Before any coded welding can begin, welding procedures need to be qualified

Welders need to be certified using the procedures that have been qualified

Welds need to be inspected by a qualified person

When it comes to Shielded Metal Arc Welding, There are AWS welding procedures for sale that are prequalified. They are not free. In fact, if you buy a pre-qualified welding procedure... for the few pages you get, you might thing you got ripped off. But odds are, you just saved yourself a whole bunch of money and headaches in the long run.

Prequalified welding procedures are produced with a lot of input from volunteers in the welding industry. Is a round robin kind of thing where several different companies produce welds to a given set of parameters and they all agree that acceptable welds can be done using the procedure.

There is safety in numbers. If company X, Y, and Z can all agree that good welds can be made that meet visual inspection criteria, non destructive, and destructive testing, as well as other mandated tests, it seems reasonable to believe that the procedure works.

Companies are free to re-invent the wheel and test their own procedures but it usually winds up costing more in the long run. It is wise to go ahead and buy the pre-qualified procedures. Especially when there is the likelihood of an audit from regulatory agencies. The AWS has more clout than you do.

8 Basic Ways of Preventing Deforestation

There have been so many discussions on the effects of deforestation in our environment. These effects range from alarming to catastrophic. We have read newspaper headlines that show the wreckage that natural disasters have done. Flashfloods have not only damaged millions of properties all over the globe but it has also collected lives. Landslides have done the same. These two are the results of nature's balance that has been disturbed--they are the effects of deforestation.

Deforestation is the act of converting patches of forests to become areas of residence or industry. More and more businessmen are pushing through forests to obtain more land. Environment is sacrificed in exchange for profit. And this is a highly disturbing fact.

As an individual or as a part of the global community, you can do something to help prevent deforestation. Maybe you can't fight off illegal loggers with your bear hands but with some basic ways, you can make a difference--no matter how small. Here's a list:

8 Basic Ways of Preventing Deforestation

1. If deforestation is a negative event, then a positive event should take place to counter its effects--reforestation. Plant trees and begin doing this in your yard. Trees give off oxygen that is essential for human existence and they, in turn, capture the carbon dioxide that humans and animals exhale. Trees also help in containing water in its roots. With this simple act, you are able to prevent soil erosion, which is the root cause of landslides!

2. Use recycled items such as books or pad paper, toilet paper, even shopping bags. If you can, do not waste any of these products so that no new raw material would be required to replace them.

3. If you are a farmer (or if you know someone who works as a farmer), try to rotate your crops. Instead of using a different portion of land each year, why not use the same portion with different crops? This practice also helps in maintaining the fertility of the soil. With the rotation of crops, not only is there a variety on the harvest each year, there is also the possibility of keeping that portion of land for as long as you can.

4. Cut down only the mature trees. Do not kill baby trees. And for every tree that is lost, plant another one as a replacement.

5. Join environmental awareness groups that would help you be an advocate of reforestation. In Washington, specifically in the Washington Middle School, there was a group of students that established a service-learning project. In their project, they asked a penny from each person. They explained that this money would help in buying acres of the rainforest in Amazon. Once this pushes through, no deforestation could take place in that purchased area.

6. There is a report that in Indonesia and Malaysia, more and more trees are cut down to produce palm oil. This massive destruction in the forests of both countries resulted into the loss of habitat for the native orangutans. With the loss of more trees, more animals become homeless. You can't help prevent this altogether but you can limit your consumption of products that contain palm oil such as breads, chocolates, and even some cosmetics such as shampoo, soap or toothpaste. As to your food consumption, you can begin a diet of roasted or boiled foods instead of frying them.

7. Instead of using firewood, use coals to heat up your fireplaces during the winter season. Remember that it takes only a few hours to consume the firewood but it would take years to grow a single tree. Think twice before purchasing firewood again.

8. Support the laws or programs that were made to protect the forests and to stop any form of deforestation. Programs such as the Tropical Forestry Action Plan have done a major difference on the way deforestation is looked at today. This program spearheaded the discussion of tropical deforestation.

It is imperative to know that there is no such thing as a small, insignificant act when it comes to defeating deforestation. No matter how small your deed maybe, the important thing there is 'every act can make a difference'. Deforestation can be prevented and you can be an active force in achieving that.

2003-2007 Ford Powerstroke EGR System - Where it is, Why it is a Problem, and What to Do About It

In 2003 Ford introduced the 6.0 Powerstroke to the world. This is the same engine that International calls the VT365. This engine has received a really bad reputation in the diesel world due to reliability issues. We will tackle one of the problem areas here today, the EGR system.

Before I go any farther, please understand that the EGR system is an emissions device. It is against Federal law to tamper, remove, or render an emissions system inoperable. Please understand that all the information in this article was collected from off-road only trucks and I do not endorse the removal or tampering with of any emissions system of a vehicle that is used on public roads. All the information obtained for this article is from testing vehicles on our Superflow chassis dyno in the shop. It is up to you and your mechanic to decide what steps you want to take in modifying your truck. Use this information at your own risk.;)

1. What is the EGR system and why do I need it?

2003-2007 Ford Powerstroke EGR System - Where it is, Why it is a Problem, and What to Do About It

One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is what is the EGR system and why do I need it? We don't have to go into long technical descriptions here. EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. To meet certain emissions standards, it is necessary to reintroduce exhaust gases into the intake air in order to bring certain elements in the exhaust within levels set for that year of truck. Of course you wouldn't want to dump hot exhaust gas directly into the intake manifold, so that is why there is an EGR cooler. The cooler has engine coolant running through it and looks very much like a regular radiator or heater core. The exhaust gas passes through this small radiator and lowers the exhaust gas to a temperature that it is able to be introduced into the intake system at. On the 6.0 Powerstroke engine, it is an extremely simple system consisting only of a cooler and a valve. When the engine's computer decides the EGR valve should open under certain conditions, the exhaust gas is let out of the cooler and into the intake manifold. And here we have the first hint of a problem; the exhaust gas is always in the EGR cooler.

2. What goes wrong with the EGR system and how can it hurt my engine?

The big problem here is heat. It is possible for a completely stock engine to produce exhaust gas temperatures well in excess of 1000 degrees. So imagine taking 1000-1500 degree air and constantly running it through your heater core day after day. How long do you think it would last? Next, put that heater core in an enclosed box that has to endure not only the high temperatures, but also 10-50 psi of exhaust backpressure that is built before the turbo it and the exhaust manifold. Even though the cooler is made out of materials that are meant for higher temperatures, it is not a matter of if, but when your cooler will fail. Best case scenario is that the cooler just leaks a little coolant into the exhaust system and it passes out the exhaust and you just notice some coolant loss. Worst case scenario, exhaust pressure is able to enter a break in the cooler and enter the coolant system which only runs at 12 or so psi max. The high pressure will ruin head gaskets and oil coolers. They simply weren't designed to withstand that much pressure in the coolant system. Also, the coolant system cannot keep the truck cool with that much pressure in the system. This is why you will hear about or may have experienced coolant puking out of the filler cap on the degas bottle after pulling a load up a long hill. The cap is made to bleed off pressure above 12-14 psi. The increased coolant temp and extra pressure being pushed in from the exhaust will push coolant right out the cap. We have a truck in the shop right now with a blown EGR cooler and head gasket. The pressure in the coolant system had gotten so high that it blew one of the hoses right off the coolant bottle. This truck was a bone stock work truck. This blown cooler problem only gets worse when you put a programmer on the truck that raises exhaust gas temperatures several hundred degrees. If you put your programmer on the highest setting, hook to a heavy trailer, and then go tugging up a long grade, I suggest you put your mechanic on speed dial. You will need his services soon.

The other problem with the system is that the EGR valve constantly gets coked up with exhaust soot. The dirty exhaust gas passing by it deposits soot on the valve surfaces. Sooner or later the valve will get enough soot on it that it can't close and operate normally. Exhaust gas is constantly pouring into the intake manifold now. This condition causes severe drivability issues, poor fuel economy, and low power. If you have owned a 6.0 Powerstroke for very long, you have no doubt replaced, cleaned, or had your EGR valve checked because of this problem.

3. What can we do to fix this problem?

There are a couple of fixes to this problem. The first and most obvious is to simply remove the cooler. Unfortunately, that would be against the law. We do sell an EGR delete kit to do just that if you are going to use your truck for off road only. This kit completely removes the cooler from the truck. There is a line that bypasses the coolant from where it comes out of the oil cooler directly to where it once came out of the EGR cooler into the intake manifold. There is also a pipe that replaces the factory up-pipe between the exhaust manifold and the turbo. Some years have a scoop in the factory pipe to help direct exhaust gas into the cooler. Since the cooler isn't going to be there anymore, we need to replace that pipe with one that doesn't have the flange for the cooler nor the scoop. There is some debate on how much difference in performance replacing the up-pipe actually makes, but I personally would just like the stupid scoop out of there if it was my truck. Also, we are removing one more place to have an exhaust leak by not leaving the factory cooler flange with some sort of block off in it.

The other fix is to replace the cooler with a "performance" one that is not suppose to rupture. I have never personally installed one of these myself. I really don't believe in them. Even if the cooler will never pop with a better unit in there, you would still be getting exhaust gas into the intake system. If you have ever torn down a 6.0 Powerstroke, you would be amazed at the amount of soot that collects on the intake passages and intake valves. Letting dirty exhaust gas into the intake manifold is just a bad idea the whole way around. If you are on a tight budget, still under warranty, or worried about not having the cooler in there for emissions, you could just block the stock cooler off. The quickest and best low budget fix is to put a freeze plug in either end of the cooler and weld it solid. This way no exhaust gas can enter the cooler nor can any coolant exit if the cooler ever ruptured. You still have the dilemma of the scoop in the exhaust pipe, but this low buck fix will work OK if you can't afford the delete kit to do it right. With this being said, I would still install the bypass kit on my own personal truck just to be rid of the whole mess for good.

4. Will deleting the cooler affect the way my truck runs? Will I get a check engine light?

The answer to the first question is yes. You should see an increase in fuel mileage, a little quicker spool up of the turbo, and usually a little lower EGT's. There are no negative performance effects from removing the cooler no matter what your friendly Ford technician tells you. It seems like a waste of your money to install a high flow air filter or cold air intake system if you have hot, dirty exhaust gas pouring into the system just past it. As for the check engine light, you shouldn't get one at all as long as you leave the EGR valve in the manifold and plugged in. There is absolutely no reason to remove it from the system once you have removed the cooler. The computer can open and close it as many times as it wants. There is no feedback loop that lets the computer know whether or not the exhaust gas made it into the intake manifold when the valve is open. The computer will stay happy just opening and closing the valve at will and no check engine light will be lit. There are some delete kits out there that have a block off plate for the port where the EGR valve goes. I don't recommend installing them. For starters, there is no reason to block it off if you have the cooler deleted since no exhaust can get through the valve. Second, you will have to leave the valve plugged in and laying on the engine to stave off check engine lights which is kind of amateurish at best.

5. Is there anything I can do to prolong my EGR cooler life if I want to leave it in?

If you don't want to remove your cooler for fear of black helicopters and jail time for tampering with Federal emissions devices, there are a couple of things you can do. First off, the lower you can keep your exhaust gas temperatures the better. Installing a high flow exhaust will help lower your EGTS considerably. A bigger more efficient intercooler like the Banks Technicooler or the Spearco upgrade will also help. Installing a turbo that moves more air like the Garrett Stage 1 will also help lower EGTS. And lastly, installing a pyrometer to keep on eye on exhaust gas temps will enable you to back out of the throttle when they get too high. Also making sure you run oil that has the right certification for your engine will help keep soot down a little.

In conclusion, I firmly believe all the horror stories of multiple blown head gaskets can be blamed on two things: First is extremely high timing in some of the first performance programmers that were introduced. They simply didn't know right away that the 6.0 would puke the gaskets if more than 12 degrees of timing was used for the really hot programs. The 7.3's would stand up to that much timing and more no problem. Secondly, I believe blown EGR coolers contributed to then and still are causing blown head gaskets today. I understand the need for cleaner emissions, but at what cost?

Thanks for reading,

John Anderson

Welding Certification Tests For Aviation and Aerospace Repair Stations

American Welding Society D17.1 "Specification for Fusion Welding for Aerospace Applications" is the industry standard for becoming a certified welder for fabricating or repairing aircraft parts.

Back in the day, MIL std 5021 was the standard and cluster welds of tubing spliced to plate where the standard test given to certify welders.

Then MIL std 1595a came along and addressed different metal types and newer processes like electron beam and laser. Mil std 1595a was later renamed AMS 1595a with no changes in the document other than name.

Welding Certification Tests For Aviation and Aerospace Repair Stations

AWS D17.1 is the latest and greatest specification for certifying welders and serves not only as a standard for certifying welders, but also a specification for all welding processes used in the aviation and aerospace industries.

Basically here is how the welding certification part works:

Metals are categorized into 8 categories or groups. (1. carbon low alloy, 2. iron based stainless steels, 3. nickel alloys, 4. aluminum, 5. magnesium, 6. titanium, 7. cobalt alloys, 8. refractory alloys like columbium, tantalum etc.)

metal groups 1,2,and 3 are further separated into a and b categories with the b category considered the most difficult to weld.

Groove welds and fillet welds are used to certify welders. Usually a test joint in the.032" -.050" thickness range is used for the welding certification tests but AWS D17.1 has provisions for all thicknesses of metals.

Usually 2 inch by 5 inch plates are used for the groove weld tests in this thickness.

Groove welds are often x rayed, but bend testing is sometimes used

Fillet welds (tee joints) are required in order for the welder to be qualified to weld a fillet weld below.063"

Groove welds qualify for fillet welds too for everything over.063"

Tips for passing an aerospace welding certification test:

Make sure your vision is good. ( AWS D17.1 even requires a vision test) Use extra magnification for the thin stuff. Even with good vision, seeing a puddle on inconel 718 that is.032" thick can be difficult. If you cant see it, you cant weld it. Keep your tungsten electrodes sharp and clean Keep as close an arc and you dare without dipping your wick. If you dip your wick, stop and change electrodes. Clean the metal and file the sheared edge of any groove weld, especially aluminum, magnesium, and titanium. Follow the WPS if one is provided. Sometimes the test inspector looks for your ability to follow technical instructions as well as your ability to pass a welding test.

Software Testing Certification - What You Need to Know to Pass the ISTQB Foundation Level Exam

Are you considering taking the ISTQB foundation level software testing certification exam but would like to know more about what topics it covers? This article provides a summary of what knowledge is required to satisfy the requirements of the foundation level certification.

The certification exam is based on a syllabus that is updated periodically by the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB). The syllabus is freely available for download and it is what the training providers base their courses on. By reviewing the syllabus, we can understand what topics will be covered in the exam and what we need to know to have the knowledge required for the foundation level certification.

As the foundation level is aimed at those that may have no prior knowledge of testing, the syllabus starts with covering the fundamentals of testing. This includes being able to explain why testing is necessary and the basic test process from planning to execution and closure.

Software Testing Certification - What You Need to Know to Pass the ISTQB Foundation Level Exam

The syllabus then covers how testing activities fit into the software development lifecycle and the software development methodology being used in the project. You need to be familiar with the different levels of testing from component or unit testing to integration, system and user acceptance testing (UAT). You also need to understand the different types of tests, e.g. functional and non functional and if the test is related to a change, understanding what regression testing is.

It then covers how static techniques fit into the test process. Static techniques include reviews or automated analysis that is performed without actually executing the software. For example reviews of system related documentation including functional specifications, design documents, software code and test plans. Automated analysis refers to checks that can be done by tools on software source code to find any defects by comparing to predefined rules or standards.

The next topic is test design techniques. Here it is necessary to know the difference between specification based or black box techniques, structure based or white box techniques and experience based techniques. Using this understanding you need to know how to choose the appropriate test techniques for the test level and project situation. It is necessary to understand what is required to manage the test process. You need to be able to answer the following questions - How to organize a test team, plan and estimate test activities and monitor progress. How to ensure that all project outputs are version controlled and tracked to avoid any ambiguity (configuration management). How to determine, identify and manage project and product risk.
